This year’s Eddie Johnson & Friends Celebrity Events were truly inspiring, celebrating the power of perseverance, family, and community. We’re deeply grateful to our Trophy Sponsor and host, Talking Stick Resort & Casino, and to our Golf Tournament Title Sponsor, Thrivent – Vista Point Wealth Advisors, for making it all possible.

From a packed poker night to a lively golf tournament and a sold-out gala, the weekend raised over $300,000 to benefit single mom college student families through Helping Hands for Single Moms. Every event was filled with generosity, joy, and connection.

Saturday’s gala was especially memorable as Eddie’s celebrity friends joined guests at their tables, sharing stories and laughter. We also celebrated our nursing alumni—graduates now thriving in healthcare—one of whom had just passed her Nurse Practitioner exam that very weekend. And another, whose grown daughter is now in nursing school!

Entertainment began with Jade Johnson performing “Superwoman” in tribute to single moms, followed by comedian Karen Mills, who brought both laughter and heart to the stage after amusing “mom stories” from Eddie and his friends. Video messages from NBA greats Ralph Sampson, Muggsy Bogues, and LaSalle “Tank” Thompson entertained us with their own “mom” stories.

The weekend wrapped up with gratitude and laughter, reminding everyone of the incredible impact that community support can have on the determined single moms we serve.
