At Holiday Happiness 2024, hundreds of generous donors—who had been busy shopping from the wish lists of Helping Hands for Single Moms children—gathered for our annual gift-wrapping event, hosted at Impact Church in Scottsdale. Seated alongside the women they supported, the donors and the moms not only wrapped her children’s presents together but also shared in heartfelt conversations, learning more about that mom’s goals and aspirations.
In total, gifts valued at over $60,000 poured in for more than 215 HHFSM kids ~ many of whom may not have had gifts this year had it not been for the generosity of others.
Adding to the joy of the morning, we welcomed Sonya Curry, a passionate educator, author, (and mother to NBA stars Stephen and Seth Curry). With warmth, humor and wisdom, she inspired the crowd and brought many to tears as she personally provided each single mom with a red rose—a reminder of their resilience, uniqueness, and worth, even in moments of struggle and invisibility.
In turn, we celebrated her own unique journey, surprising her with a special, “My Mom – My Hero” award. We were fortunate to have her daughter and grandson help us with the presentation!
A much-loved tradition continued to grow, as we recognized each of our 2024 graduates in attendance. We called each one to the stage with a celebration bouquet, and our guests responded with a well-deserved standing ovation. What an honor for us to be able to mark such a milestone for them and their families.
